WALTON COUNTY, GA, August 23, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rose Thomas Crawford has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Rose grew up in her hometown of Monroe, GA, to Harriet Moon Thomas of Walton County. After high school, Rose enlisted in the National Guard and received the most outstanding soldier award in her platoon from the US ARMY. She was then encouraged by her mother to work at the local county hospital. Rose found a former co-worker who then introduced her to respiratory therapy and she then began her career at Piedmont Walton in 1975. She not only was the first African American woman in this role at the time, but also was celebrated as an outstanding student at Athens Technical College while achieving her diploma. She is also noted for being the first black woman in many other areas in Walton County during this time of integration, such as real estate, Barbizon and Athens School of Modeling, being the business owner of Rose's Beauty Supply and Service, being an independent personal trainer at Walton Athletic and receiving the finishers metal for the Lasell Marathon in Chicago, IL. In addition to the Lasell Marathon, she currently runs various other marathons in the Atlanta area with her son Nicholas. Ms. Crawford also serves as a mentor and role model to women in the community including her daughter-in-law Nicole, and granddaughter Adrianne. As a community-based leader, she has also been awarded ambassador of the year while serving in the Chamber of Commerce, is a licensed minister and attends church regularly. Her true passion is saving lives at the hospital. Through 2020 and current, Rose is at the forefront of COVID-19 and continues to serve her community well. During her life long career, Rose has received numerous accolades in honor of her committed service rendered to the healthcare organization. Looking forward to the future, Ms. Crawford plans to retire in the coming years and travel around the world.
