Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Brennan obtained a Bachelor of Science in communications and journalism from Castleton University in Vermont in 1992. Following this accomplishment, he furthered his education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the School of Law at St. Thomas University, Miami, where he finished in the top third of his class and was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. During this time, Mr. Brennan served as an editor with the St. Thomas Law Review.
In 2001, Mr. Brennan acquired valuable experience as an assistant general counsel with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in Davie, where he represented the department in various motion hearings before state circuit courts and before the Florida Public Employees Relations Commission in employee career service appeals, trained department employees in juvenile delinquency law and labor law and provided legal opinions and advice to the department administration. Mr. Brennan further prospered from 2002 until 2005 as an assistant state attorney in the Florida 18th Judicial Circuit in Viera, where he managed a varied caseload of up to three hundred cases and represented the state in appeals before the Circuit Court of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit.
As general counsel with the Coastal Florida Police Benevolent and Public Employees Associations from 2006 to 2007, Mr. Brennan provided superior service representing both sworn law enforcement and non-sworn civilian union members in internal affairs investigations, line-of-duty shootings and in-custody death investigations, grievance proceedings, arbitrations, civil service hearings, unemployment compensation appeals and other matters. He further served the public as an assistant Citrus County attorney in Inverness from 2008 to 2010, representing the county in civil trial and appellate actions in both county and circuit court, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States, the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal and other administrative bodies and arbitrators.
In 2010, Mr. Brennan established his own general practice, the Law Offices of Gregg R. Brennan PA, in which he manages a sole practitioner general practice law firm that represents clients in the following areas: criminal defense, juvenile dependency and termination of parental rights, family law, probate law, employment law, and immigration law. He further stands for clients in both state and federal courts on both the trial and appellate levels and before both state and federal agencies.
Mr. Brennan has been a member in good standing with the Florida Bar since 2000 and the bars of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. He is likewise experienced in appellate brief writing in both civil and criminal cases before the United States Supreme Court, the Florida Third, Fourth, and Fifth District Courts of Appeal and the Florida Fifth and Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Courts, and in oral argument before most of the above courts.
Mr. Brennan attributes his success to hard work. He considers his most notable career achievement to be his handling of a case concerning a local bar and restaurant that was ultimately appealed before the Supreme Court. In the coming years, Mr. Brennan hopes to continue reaping the fruits of his success.
