For over three decades, Mr. Regan has found success as a private practice attorney providing services in the areas of business law, family law and personal injury. Between 1975 and 1989, he held various positions with Dan River Inc., beginning as an assistant general counsel before being promoted to an associate general counsel, general counsel and assistant secretary. As the in-house counsel at the aforementioned company, he oversaw employee benefit plans, contributed to VA Workman's Compensation defense and managed private and public securities offerings, public company SEC filings, acquisitions and financings. Additionally, Mr. Regan completed legal work for public stockholders and the board of directors.
Mr. Regan obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1963. Thereafter, he earned a Bachelor of Laws from Union University in 1967 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Albany Law School in 1968. He was subsequently admitted to practice law by the State Bars of Virginia and New York. Moreover, he was licensed by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western and Eastern Districts of Virginia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York and the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia. During this time, Mr. Regan began his career of general counsel to the assistant secretary of Dan River Holding Co. and as an associate at Medwin & McMahon.
After a brief turn towards politics while serving as an assistant district attorney in Albany County, Mr. Regan was introduced to corporate law while working with the Mohasco Corporation from 1969 to 1974, where he is credited with the assemblage and formation of Cort Furniture Rental. After accepting a position with Dan River Inc. thereafter, he is proud to have contributed to the ESOP buyout in 1981. In addition, he is pleased to have authored the article "Broadening the Role of Public Company Employees Through Employer Stock Ownership." In addition to his professional career, Mr. Regan completed two years of infantry basic training at the Indian Town Gap Military Reservation with the Army ROTC and actively contributes his musical skills with the Starmont Swing Band and the Philharmonia of Greensboro.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Regan has maintained his affiliations with the Republican Party of Virginia, the Republican National Committee, the Danville Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association and the Danville Golf Club. For his achievements in the field, he is honored to have been presented with the Paul Harris Fellowship by the Rotary Club of Danville. Moreover, Mr. Regan is gratified to have maintained an AV Rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
