As a first-generation American, Ms. Socorro connected to her community and developed a persistent attitude. She grew up in Miami and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in political science, with minors in legal studies and French, from the University of Central Florida, and subsequently earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Nova Southeastern University in 2011. After receiving her law degree, she was admitted to practice law in the States of New York and New Jersey.
Ms. Socorro began her career as a no-fault attorney in the State of New Jersey and New York in 2011, where she argued cases before appellate courts. Subsequently, she served as an outside counsel for NYC Health + Hospitals. Today, she has excelled as an associate counsel for the Brooklyn and New York Borough Teams of NYC Health + Hospitals since 2018, in which she specializes in medical malpractice. She represents the corporation, as well as physicians and nurses, in malpractice lawsuits.
For her efforts throughout her career, Ms. Socorro was recognized as a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer in 2018. As a dedicated professional, she has been especially proud to become the first person in her family to complete college and attend law school. Her younger siblings notably followed in her footsteps, and also went on to graduate from college.
Ms. Socorro attributes her professional success to her upbringing, noting that her mother worked diligently and served as a great example and mentor. Looking toward the future, Ms. Socorro plans to become a trial attorney for NYC Health + Hospitals. She would also like to try more complex medical cases.
