Employed by the Alpine School District in Pleasant Grove, Utah, for more than 30 years, Ms. Terry concluded her teaching career in 1999 as a home economics instructor. Recognized in the state of Utah as an expert in vocational training for secondary schools, she bore a considerable passion for the field, and always strove to help her students learn and grow. Outside of her instructional responsibilities, she spent much of her time on various committees over the span of 1980 to 1985. She was also instrumental on the home economics advisory board for nearly a decade between 1980 and 1989 and was involved by writing the junior high school economics curriculum for many years. Apart from her commitment at the school district, Ms. Terry spent three years as a field test teacher for the Utah Board of Education beginning in 1976.
Born in Alberta, Canada, Ms. Terry later relocated to the U.S. Becoming a longtime resident of Utah, she spent four years teaching Sunday school for the Relief Society in American Fork, Utah, from 1987 to 1991. The Relief Society is notably a philanthropic and educational women's organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Ms. Terry studied at Snow College, a public community college in Ephraim, Utah, where she received an Associate of Science in 1965. She subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science at Utah State University in 1967. Following this accomplishment, Ms. Terry obtained a Master of Science at Brigham Young University in 1975.
Influential in her career was her membership with several industry-related organizations. Among them, she has been aligned with the National Education Association, the American Vocational Association, and the Utah Education Association. She is also a former board delegate for the Alpine Education Association. Honoring her work, Ms. Terry received the P. Grove Golden Apple Award.
