Since 2018, Mr. Simmons has flourished as the Founding President and Chief Executive Officer of Employ Prince George's Inc., which is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of workforce development services to individuals and businesses in Prince George's County, Maryland and surrounding areas. In addition to managing the implementation of 14 workforce development programs, managing more than 70 employees, and managing the Prince George's County Public Workforce System, he focuses on advancing the productivity of local businesses by supplying them with qualified and dedicated workers. As the operator of the Prince George's County Public Workforce System, Employ Prince George's serves more than 24,000 individuals and more than 2,000 businesses every year.
With over 10 years of workforce development experience, Mr. Simmons previously excelled as the Executive Director of Workforce Services for the Prince George County's Economic Development Corporation. In 2015, he was became the American Job Center Operations Program Manager for the District of Columbia's Department of Employment Services, for which he directly supervised four American Job Centers and managed the District of Columbia's Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs. Three years prior, Mr. Simmons was a NCAA Division II athlete at Newberry College, where he was a double major and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology from Newberry College.
In recognition of his remarkable success as the manager of two Financial Stability Centers in Moncks Corner and Summerville, South Carolina, Mr. Simmons was invited to attend The White House Summit on Working Families in 2014. Six years later, the Washington Business Journal honored him as one of the top 40 professionals under 40 in the DC Metropolitan Region and the Maryland Daily Record honored him as an Influential Marylander. In the near future, Mr. Simmons intends to increase the national visibility of Employ Prince George's in order to expose the importance of workforce development systems and their role in economic growth to the rest of the U.S.
