LOS ANGELES, CA, August 27, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Larry A. Davis has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After following a number of passions throughout the course of his youth, including an interest in science and as a drummer with a popular rock band, Mr. Davis attended Youngstown State University, where he attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Following this accomplishment, he received a Master of Fine Arts at California State University, Long Beach. While working on his Master's degree, and as an instructor in the art department at the University, Mr. Davis came into contact with Clare Graham, the manager of the Entertainment Art Department at Disneyland, and secured his first job with the Walt Disney Company.
After six years in his initial role with Disney, Mr. Davis formed his own company, and continues today as the president and owner of Larry A. Designs. After a number of successful years on his own, Mr. Davis was offered a new role with Disney that allowed him to maintain his own company, as well as bridging his service from his previous Disney role. This culminated in a 31-year (non-consecutive) career with the Walt Disney Company, until his retirement in 2016. Throughout his career, Mr. Davis has been most proud of his ability to balance both business and art over the years. In addition, he was most grateful for his final role with Walt Disney Imagineering as the Executive Producer and Creative Director for the Main Entrance of Shanghai Disneyland. This role furnished him with the opportunity to travel to China on a frequent basis prior to living in Shanghai for the entire construction phase of the project.
As an accomplished professional, Mr. Davis was bestowed with the title of Honored Alumnus of 2017 for Youngstown State University, and Honored Alumnus of 2021 for Salem High School. He was also featured in several publications, including the Youngstown Vindicator (Ohio), the Salem News (Ohio) as well as books that include "Out of The Fiery Furnace" by Howard Hitchcock (a book about the art of Bronze casting), and "An Animator's Gallery - David Goldberg Draws the Disney Characters" by David A. Bossert, artwork which was generated at the request of Mr. Davis specifically for the Shanghai project. He has also shown his artwork at numerous galleries around Los Angeles, which have included the MorYork Gallery, L.A. Art Share, The Brendan Walter Gallery and the Piezo Electric Gallery, in New York City at the Holly Solomon Gallery and in Portland Oregon at Gallery 114. Mr. Davis has attributed his professional success to his passion for creativity and art. He is currently focused on a new series of art pieces at his Los Angeles studio in the home he shares with his wife, Maureen Ryan, while also participating as a guest lecturer at Youngstown State University, California State University, Long Beach and the University of Southern California.
