JOPLIN, MO, September 01, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Curtis (Curt) Lawrence has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Well regarded as a leader in his community, Mr. Lawrence serves as the Second Chief of the Seneca-Cayuga Nation, for which he had previously found success as the Executive Director. While in his role as Tribal Administrator of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, he makes time to utilize his legal expertise as a guardian ad litem for both the Wyandotte Nation Tribal Court and the Miami Nation Tribal Court. Notably Mr. Lawrence's experience in overcoming the challenging circumstances of his childhood motivated him to assist contemporary youth.
Over the span of his career, Mr. Lawrence took on the positions of Director of Indian Child Welfare and a Child Protection Services Specialist for the Seneca-Cayuga Nation from 2011 to 2013. In order to prepare for his legal career, he pursued an education at the Washburn University School of Law where he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1995. During this time, Mr. Lawrence was selected among nearly 30 Native American students to participate in the American Indian Graduate Center's program, an opportunity that allowed him to argue his written brief on the Indian Civil Rights Act before the Navajo Supreme Court.
A foster caregiver and a manager of Abiding Hope Group Home in Branson, Missouri between 2009 and 2013, Mr. Lawrence formerly contributed as the Vice President of the Christian Legal Society, the Vice President of Native American Law Students Association and the Youth Pastor for the Abundant Life Christian Center in Joplin, Missouri. Among his numerous accomplishments, he accepted a Presidential Scholarship from Washburn University School of Law. Looking towards the future, Mr. Lawrence intends to continue serving as a guiding light on behalf of his tribe.
