Having grown up in a family of artists, Ms. James has always had a passion for the arts. She attended the College of Artesia, from which she obtained a bachelor's degree in English, theater and arts in 1971. For over 30 years, she has worked as an artist in various capacities, including at her eponymous studio, Jonna James Fine Art.
Throughout her career, Ms. James has found success as a landscape designer, graphic illustrator, interior designer and owner of an art gallery. For much of her professional life, she and her husband worked together building houses. Her husband oversaw construction through wall completion and she finished the home by selecting all interior design features, layouts, and landscaping, totaling over 600 homes throughout their careers. Ms. James attributes her success to her hard work, perseverance and initiative.
For her inimitable achievements, Ms. James has been the recipient of a Horticulture Technology Award and was selected for a Swede Emborg Endowment. She volunteered with the American Cancer Society for 10 years, donated paintings for charity events/fundraisers and has maintained membership with the Rio Grande Art Association and the Corrales Society of Artists, both in New Mexico. Notably, at the age of 30 years old, Ms. James furthered her formal education and earned a post graduate degree in landscape architecture from Oklahoma State University. In the future, she intends to make her company into a viable brand and to continue making her customers happy through her enchanting and delightful art.
