Mrs. Budde is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) who works closely with patients suffering from depression and anxiety. She also specializes in grief and loss counseling and is a certified in Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Fatigue Certification Training for Healthcare, and Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider (CMHIMP) utilizing a holistic approach. She established Smash RX, LLC in Westlake Village in 2019, a mental health private practice that offers destruction therapy in conjunction with traditional therapy. Mrs. Budde's practice implements a revolutionary new concept where clients can release their stress and frustrations in one of its two soundproof smash rooms. Although it is a relatively new concept, Mrs. Budde believes in the power of destruction therapy, which she hopes will soon become a clinically approved form of therapy.
Leading Smash RX's operations and strategic direction, Mrs. Budde plans and supervises all patient care, administrative operations, and programs. Working diligently to increase the company's effectiveness through recruiting, training and coaching, she also implements its vision, mission and overall direction, which enables her to become excited for the future of the business. When she is not treating patients in the office, Mrs. Budde offers corporate wellness teambuilding exercises to the corporate community. This program has notably been specific to leaders seeking to transition their employees back into the office since the 2020 quarantine restrictions have been lifted.
Prior to forming Smash RX, Mrs. Budde found success for over a decade in the mental health field. Between 2009 and 2019, she has served as a psychiatric social worker for Kaiser Permanente, a medical social worker for TLC Medical Social Worker Agency, a licensed marriage and family therapist for the Child & Family Center, a facilitator for the Children's Institute Inc., and a therapist for Drew Child Development Corporation. As an African American therapist, Mrs. Budde credits her sense of creativity to her ability to reach people and help them better understand the many benefits of mental health, especially BIPOC communities.
Apart from her primary work as a therapist, Mrs. Budde is working on a self-care project called Self-Love O'Clock. As a holistic medicine provider in conjunction with therapy, she believes that her work can become a fully developed and successful program where individuals can implement these learned strategies into their daily lives. Mrs. Budde has also flourished as an advisory board member for M3 Life Sciences and MilSpec Capital, the chief executive officer of The Crocheting Therapist.
Over the course of her career, Mrs. Budde has garnered a stellar reputation for her work with various other programs as well, including an anti-bullying program for elementary and middle school-aged children, and a program for people with learning disabilities. She also gained expertise by designing several interventions and curriculums, which included an attention deficit hyper disorder (ADHD) school-based curriculum for boys, an outpatient, anti-workplace stress program curriculum for adults, and a high-functioning curriculum for adults living with autism. Furthermore Mrs. Budde has been published in the Associated Press News and featured in E-News Pop as a testament to her professional excellence.
Mrs. Budde earned a Bachelor of Art in business management with an emphasis in accounting. Returning to her academic efforts, she obtained a Master of Art in Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family at the Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, California in 2008. Additionally, she completed an internship at the Airport Marina Counseling Center to sharpen her skills. Licensed as a marriage and family therapist, Mrs. Budde holds additional certifications as an acceptance commitment therapist and a grief counselor.
