ELKIN, NC, September 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who presents Richard Bartlett Merlo, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Merlo graduated from Harvard College in 1957 and Duke Medical School in 1961. After 3 years residency at George Washington University Hospital, he served as Chief of Radiology at Fort MacArthur Anny Hospital 1965-67. He became the Radiologist at Hugh Chatham Hospital in 1967, and retired in 2002. In 1979 he was appointed Assistant Clinical Instructor at Bowman Gray Medical School, Winston-Salem NC. Three of his articles were published, and four book reviews in the journal 'Radiology'. He is Board Certified in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
Since his retirement in 2002, Dr Merlo has been active in politics. He was a Republican precinct chairperson for Elkin, NC, and continues as a member of Surry County GOP executive committee. He received a Distinguished Service Award from Surry County, North Carolina. In 2019 his book 'Adverse effects of Leftist Social Policy' was published.
