CEDAR CITY, UT, September 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Carol Ann Modesitt with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Modesitt celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With many years of expertise as a vocalist, music educator and opera director, Ms. Modesitt has taught voice, opera, diction classes and vocal pedagogy to countless generations of students. Throughout the course of her career, she has directed over 50 opera performances, including "Hansel and Gretel," "La Bohème," "Carmen," "Marriage of Figaro," "Don Giovanni," "Too Many Sopranos," and, most recently, Naamah's Ark at the NOA 2019 National Conference in Salt Lake City. Inspired to pursue a career in music by her grade school and high school music teachers, Ms. Modesitt obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Utah State University in 1968 and a Master of Music from Eastern Kentucky University in 1973. She embarked upon her professional career as an adjunct teacher at Eastern Kentucky University, Cumberland College, Duquesne University, Seton Hill College, and then as an assistant professor at Utah State University from 1978 until 1984, and subsequently excelled as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Colorado Boulder between 1984 and 1990 and an Artist in Resident for Plymouth State College from 1990 to 1993. Thereafter, Ms. Modesitt found notable success as a professor of voice and opera at Southern Utah University, beginning in 1993, and as the chairperson of the music department between 1998 and 1999 and then again between 2005 and 2006.

Ms. Modesitt is the author of the Reindeer Educational Network and has contributed as a book reviewer to the National Opera Association Journal since 1998. Over the course of her career, she has maintained her affiliation with such organizations as Opera America, the College Music Society, the National Opera Association, the Music Teachers National Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Dedicated to her community, Ms. Modesitt has participated on the board of Friends of Iron County Police Canines, as the president of Cedar City Music Arts since 2012 and as the director of the NOA Collegiate Scenes Competition in 2013.

For her contributions in the field, Ms. Modesitt is honored to have received the Contribution to Arts Award from the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, the Arts Recognition Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Cedar City Arts Community, and multiple awards for her service to local concert programs. She is gratified to have placed second in the Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition Division One in 2013 and third place in the National Opera Association Opera Production in 2013 through 2014.
