Award-Winning Writer and Activist Andrew January Grundy III is Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Achievements in Journalism

LEBANON, KY, September 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Andrew January Grundy III has been included in Marquis Who's Who biographical publication as a celebrated journalist and activist.

Mr. Grundy, 69 years old, lives on a farm outside of Lebanon, Kentucky, and is enjoying his retirement. His career has included work with around a dozen Kentucky weekly newspapers, as well as a summer vacation job with a Texas daily newspaper. As a journalist, he has devoted his talents to bring lasting change to society. In 1979, he created, typed-out, and mimeographed an eight-page "magazine" on yellow paper. This project, entitled, "Earn Money Changing the World," pointed out political changes that could happen around the world. He mailed copies to political leaders, business people, and media insiders. Congress liked the idea and inaugurated the National Endowment for Democracy in the early 1980s. The movement awarded funds to democratic movements around the globe in an effort to combat the spread of communism. His main premise was that the US could promote democracy in the same way that the Soviet Union was spreading communism. As he wrote, "... it will be time for Russia (the Soviet Union) to experience changes within." A decade later, the Soviet Union collapsed.

Another societal change, which is underway now, was addressed in an essay Mr. Grundy wrote in the 1990s, called "Humanity in Harmony." In it, he suggested that world leaders could plan to "feed, clothe, house, educate, medicate, etc. every man, woman and child on the planet." In 2014, after he had networked this essay through the mail, the UN initiated their so-called Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the "Global Goals," in which the organization laid out its plans for ending poverty and ending hunger. The completion of these goals, potentially, will elevate the living conditions for all humans, despite political or societal systems, and they are currently projected to be completed by 2030, tentatively.

A final societal change Mr. Grundy promoted was for his hometown, in what he calls his "most productive" writing period. In 1987, the Governor of Kentucky announced that a Toyota auto plant was coming to Georgetown, Kentucky. Mr. Grundy talked about this with his peers, many of whom had only known lives as farm laborers up to that point. He declared in the Reader's Forum of the Courier Journal, the largest and best daily newspaper in the Commonwealth, that these peers wanted to work with the Toyota project. In the letter, he wrote, "The boys in Lebanon [believe] a satellite plant making hubcaps or something might even locate in the Lebanon Industrial Park. We're all fired up to start working." Following the publication of this letter in the Courier Journal, over two dozen industries flocked to the Lebanon Industrial Park. Now, Lebanon has more well-paying jobs than people to fill them. "It was all Andrew's fault," one reader remarked humorously.

Mr. Grundy is a member of the United Presbyterian Church, a brother in Sigma Nu Fraternity, and has studied with the Rosicrucian Order. He has received a best writer award from a newspaper chain. He is widely read whenever he appears in any publication. Currently, he is enjoying his computer and interacting with over 500 Facebook friends.

A book he wrote a decade ago, "Kentucky Fried Fiction" is still available from Mr. Grundy, himself. It details much of his accomplishments appearing here in Marquis Who's Who. Calling it a rare and collectible book, Mr. Grundy says send $50 for a copy to Andrew January Grundy III, 1340 Bradfordsville Road, Lebanon, KY 40033. "It is good reading!"
