MOLINE, IL, September 07, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melvin Grimes has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Inspired by his father, who was also a pastor, Dr. Grimes was called to ministry. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in religion and sociology from Kalamazoo College in 1975, and a Masters of Divinity in Theology and a Doctorate of Ministry Degree from the Grace Valley Theological Seminary, he gained experience in the field before joining Washington Avenue Baptist Church as a senior pastor. Over the years, he fostered his professional expertise as president of the Stewartville Neighborhood Partnership and received a Master of Divinity in theology at Grace Valley Theological Seminary, from which he graduated in 2000.
Backed by an outstanding breadth of knowledge and expertise, Dr. Grimes serves as a senior pastor with the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Driven to stay abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the Friends of Martin Luther King and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. Additionally, he works as commissioner of the Moline Housing Authority and serves as Executive Director of Churches United of the Quad-Cities. Throughout his career, he has also dedicated himself to the United Way of the Quad City Area, the Wood River Baptist Association, with which he is a financial secretary, and the State Convention's Department of Christian Education.
In light of his outstanding body of work, Dr. Grimes was named Humanitarian of the Year through Church Women United, received a National Commissioner Recognition from the National Association for Housing and Relocation Officers and won a Civil Rights Award through the Young Women's Christian Association. Within the next five years, Dr. Grimes aims to retire and consult with churches that want to develop a strong Christian education curriculum.
