She worked as an Elementary school music teacher in Miami Dade County and has been a self-employed piano teacher and accompanist prior to taking on her current role as the Executive Director and President of Maskmission Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded by her daughter in 2020. Throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has provided thousands of necessary Personal Protective Equipment, relief and support to healthcare workers, children and underserved populations nationwide.
Devoted to helping her community, Mrs. McLeod has distinguished herself as a Certified School Volunteer and earned the Outstanding Parent Award from Miami Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS). Likewise, she was presented with the Listeners/Oyentes 10-year Service Award, a MDCPS volunteer program that provides one on one quality time whereby students can express their feelings in a non-judgmental and confidential manner. To prepare for her professional journey, Mrs. McLeod obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the University of Miami in 1985 and completed a Certified Contact Tracing Course through Johns Hopkins University in 2020. Her hobbies as an International Table Tennis player and self-taught event planner shows her dedication to building teamwork and care to details.
In accounting for her standout success, Mrs. McLeod credits the influence of her deep and abiding Christian faith and eagerness to make the world a better place. Furthermore, she attributes the success of Maskmission Inc. to her daughter's vision and the support that they have received from the family, friends, and local community. Looking toward the future, she aspires to network and learn from taking business courses, seminars and to recruit additional employees who have the expertise to help the nonprofit work to serve in a larger capacity while making a positive change in the world.
