Currently, Ms. Rashid serves as the membership chairperson of the Big Hearts for Little Hearts Guild, which is partnered with the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital.

Since coming of age, Ms. Rashid has enjoyed working with children. During her senior year of college at the University of Missouri, she frequently collaborated with the deans of the school of education, which did not offer an early childhood curriculum, so she worked hard to develop a program. Ms. Rashid went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, and began her career as a teacher. She worked in early childhood education for 35 years, spending time as a kindergarten instructor, an educator at the Georgetown Hill Child Care Center and as the director of the Kenwood Park Children's Center.
Currently, Ms. Rashid serves as the membership chairperson of the Big Hearts for Little Hearts Guild, which is partnered with the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. She also works with Girl Friend Factor, which provides educational scholarships to women over 25 who could not complete their degree due to other responsibilities. In addition, through her work with Les Dames d'Escoffier International (LDEI), Ms. Rashid helps high school aged students who wish to pursue a career in hospitality and food service. She has also volunteered as Ambassador at the Palm Springs Art Museum for the past eleven years. During the pandemic, Ms. Rashid organized "The Pizza Project" in her neighborhood to help a local pizza parlor hard-hit by the lockdown while simultaneously supporting first responders to lunch or dinner. Ms. Rashid maintains her affiliation with the Belmonte Homeowners Association.
With the Big Hearts for Little Hearts Desert Guild, Ms. Rashid is most proud to have raised significant funds for important causes. As a dedicated professional, she has initiated many fundraising efforts, such as Dining Out for a Cause, where patrons of various local restaurants are asked to support the children's hospital. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Rashid also was able to raise money to buy new boxes of Legos for the children visiting the Indio Clinic through the "Build Joy with Legos" campaign which raised $71,000 from November 1, 2020 through December 21, 2020.
For her efforts over the years, Ms. Rashid was nominated and chosen as the Outstanding Philanthropic Fundraiser in the Desert by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Throughout the course of her career, she has attributed her professional success to her passion for educating children and giving back to society.
