Drawing upon years of expertise, Dr. Lavin serves as an endocrinologist in private practice and as a clinical professor for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In private practice, he guides patients in insulin replacement therapy, nutrition counseling and psychological adjustment to living with a chronic disease, and emphasizes awareness and education in addition to diagnosis and treatment of all hormone disorders. Due to his outstanding breadth of knowledge, Dr. Lavin is the Editor-in-Chief of the Manual of Endocrinology and Metabolism and the Journal of Growth, Growth Hormone and Metabolism.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Lavin serves as the international chairman of pediatric endocrinology for the American Academy of Clinical Endocrinology. He is also affiliated with such organizations as Mensa International, the Pediatric Endocrine Society and West Coast Medical Society.
For his professional excellence, Dr. Lavin has received fellowship awards for his work in endocrinology, pediatrics and adult medicine.
