Mr. Desai obtained a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, India in 1974. After immigrating to the United States, he continued his education to achieve a Master's in Chemical Engineering degree from the City University of New York in 1976 and while working as a process engineer at NL Chemicals, continued his education part-time to achieve a Master of Business Administration degree from Rutgers University Business School in 1981.
Mr. Desai began his professional carrier in 1976 as Chemical/Quality engineer at General Plastics Corporation and then worked for NL Chemicals as Senior Process Engineer. In 1984 he joined Calabrian Chemicals in Port Neches, Texas as Engineering Manager. He joined the Bechtel Corporation, Houston office in 1989 as Process Engineer followed by Project Engineer and Engineering Group Supervisor. Beginning in 2009, Mr. Desai has provided exemplary service as a Principal Project Engineer at the Bechtel Corporation, a top American engineering. procurement, construction, and project management company headquartered in Reston, Virginia. His areas of expertise include liquefied natural gas (LNG), delayed Coker, petrochemicals, and other chemical processes. He executed project engineering and management from conception through Engineering, Start-up & Commissioning. He managed process design and engineering, process performance monitoring and testing, economic and technical feasibility studies, front-end engineering design, and hazard & operability studies in chemical, gas, and petrochemical industries.

In the coming years, he would like to continue serving as consultant on LNG or other challenging engineering projects and assist his two adult children in their own business. He would also like to enjoy travelling with his wife and children.
