Foxx founded Foxx Viticulture in 1997 and serves as Managing Partner and Lead Viticulturist. Her guiding principle is to "follow the wine". This ensures that grape vines are established and grown properly on ultra-premium sites chosen to optimize quality. In addition, she works closely with winemakers taking the fruit to monitor and observe "best winemaking practices" tailored to respond to the vintage and bring out the highest potential in the wine. The practice of close liaison work with the winery is unique in vineyard management and ensures that the best possible wine is made from the fruit of the vine, honoring the concept that "wine starts in the vineyard". Ms. Foxx is trained and certified in wine sensory analysis and evaluation. She serves as a professional wine judge for several wine competitions throughout California. She is also a specialist in organic and sustainable viticulture.
Ms. Foxx is a founding member of the Technical Session Committee for the Annual Pinot Paradise Event of the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association. She obtained a bachelor's degree in Environmental Communication from Western Washington University/Fairhaven College and has completed extensive continuing education coursework in viticulture, enology, and wine sensory analysis at the University of California Davis, the University of Bordeaux, France and the University of Dijon, France. She has completed the coursework and is a candidate for the WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Level 3 certification, a respected and coveted achievement that brings together extensive educational content on viticulture and wine throughout the world.
Ms. Foxx is a Licensed Pest Control Advisor for the state of California and serves as a trained viticulturist and wine and viticulture consultant. She offers specialty consultation in organic and sustainable viticulture and wine making techniques as well as in current best practices. She was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award of Recognition for her contribution to the improvement of viticulture and wine production practices from the Santa Cruz Mountain Winegrowers Association in 2018.
Ms. Foxx plans to expand the scope of Foxx Viticulture to provide service internationally and to bring the latest advances in vineyard and wine production practices to those seeking the constant improvement of their craft. She is prepared to contribute to more wine judging competitions, bringing the unique perspective of the vineyard and vintage to each event.
