Previously, she served as the owner and consultant of the aforementioned company from 1990 to 2003, having excelled as the director of program development of the North Central Regional Education Service Agency in Clarksburg, West Virginia, between 1991 and 2003, a principal of an elementary school from 1984 until 1991 and a classroom teacher from 1970 to 1991. Prior to embarking on her professional path, Ms. Wiley-Bennett pursued an education at Shepherd University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education in 1969. Moreover, she obtained an endorsement in educational technology leadership from Salem International University in 1998. Among her numerous achievements, Ms. Wiley-Bennett was selected to develop a financial literacy curriculum in coordination with the West Virginia Department of Education.
From 2003 to 2013, Ms. Wiley-Bennett worked as the project director of a program funded through a Teaching American History grant. Additionally, she sat on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations, including West Virginia Kids Count. In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Wiley-Bennett was presented with the Professional Courage Award from the West Virginia Education Association in 1990.
