COLUMBUS, GA, September 30, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kendra N. Williams has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After receiving an Associate of Arts in liberal arts and psychology at Chattahoochee Valley Community College in 2009 and a Bachelor of Science in psychology and Master of Science in counseling and psychology at Troy University in 2011 and 2017, respectively, Ms. Williams worked as a graduate intern therapist for Ultimate Support Services between 2016 and 2017. From there, she began her formal career as a master's clinician for Cedar Tree Family and Children Services, where she has served since 2018, and as owner of Elevating Minds, LLC, since 2019.
As a master's clinician, Ms. Williams conducts weekly individual sessions with diverse populations with various emotional, behavioral and psychosocial problems. She also maintains client confidentiality, collaborates with supervisors to identify client goals and provide feedback, helps clients identify short-term and long-term goals, and advocates for human growth and development, wellness and mental health through prevention, education and advocacy. In recent years, she was selected to participate in the 2020 film "My Brother's Keeper," which discussed a war veteran battling post-traumatic stress disorder upon returning home after his sixth deployment and the obstacles he faced.
Throughout her career, Ms. Williams has also contacted Senator Jon Ossoff, Senator Raphael Warnock and U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop for the Georgia State Counseling Compact Bill, which was funded by the American Counseling Association and led by the National Center for Interstate Compact. As a member of the American Counseling Association, she has also advocated for and supported the passing of proposed legislation from the State of Georgia to enhance funding for the advancement of mental health services.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Williams aligns herself with the American Counseling Association and Chi Sigma Iota. Alongside her work, she has also dedicated herself to others as a volunteer in the community. She was awarded the bronze medal for "fastest kid in Columbus" at Matthews Elementary. She also received the 8th grade Citizenship Award and was selected to the Georgia State Choir from Blackmon Road Middle School. While attending Shaw High School, she was profiled in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Although her career has included many achievements, she is most proud of becoming a licensed associate professional counselor. Looking ahead, Ms. Williams will complete her three-year supervision and earn her full license. From there, she hopes to expand her practice and begin serving adults, children, and families of diverse backgrounds.
