Over the years, Mr. Kilbane served as a staff attorney with the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas between 2007 and 2008, where he worked alongside Justice Francis E. Sweeney, Judge Leo M. Spellacy and Judge Harry A. Hanna. Throughout his time with Elk & Elk, beginning in 2008, Mr. Kilbane achieved several notable results, including:
• $6.3 million verdict for a patient who suffered hypoxic brain injury in a post-operative recovery room due to the failure of others to detect respiratory distress.
• $2.5 million settlement for a Jane Doe whose cancer diagnosis was delayed.
• $1.7 million verdict for a 69-year-old woman who suffered a permanent spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed due to medication error.
As an expert in his field, Mr. Kilbane aligns himself with the Washington State Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association and the Washington State Association for Justice, where he frequently contributes to their newsletter. For his outstanding body of work, he was named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer through National Trial Lawyers, earned numerous Rising Star Awards through Ohio Super Lawyers between 2010 and 2015 and Washington Super Lawyers from 2016 until 2019, was named in the Top 40 Under 40 through National Trial Lawyers in 2012, and received a Washington Super Lawyer Award through Washington Super Lawyers in 2020.
