S. Ted Treves, MD, Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Medicine

    BOSTON, MA, October 06, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- S. Ted Treves, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on factors. such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

Dr. Treves obtained his MD degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires in 1966. He served as a senior resident in nuclear medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital/McGill University between 1967 and 1968, and a clinical fellow and a resident in nuclear medicine and medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital from 1968 until 1971.

Dr. Treves is currently a Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. Since 1995 he has served as the director of the Harvard Joint Program (JPNM) residency and fellowship training program and since 2003 the overall Director of the JPNM.

He was the founder and director of the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital from 1972 until 2011. At Children's, he founded and directed the Small Animal Imaging Laboratory, a core facility for researchers.

In 2000 he served as Chief, Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Brigham & Women's Hospital (BWH), Boston, MA and pioneered the introduction of the BWH PET and the medical cyclotron.

Dr. Treves spearheaded the development and dissemination of the North American Guidelines for the Administration of Radiopharmaceuticals in Children, which are widely utilized.

Dr. Treves has consulted at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences. Dr. Treves is a recipient of the prestigious Georg Charles de Hevesy Nuclear Pioneer Award from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.

Dr. Treves attributes his success to his primary interest in the fields of pediatrics and nuclear medicine. Dr. Treves published more than 340 scientific papers, multiple book chapters and reviews, and he is the editor of 4 editions of the book "Pediatric Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging." He is currently an investigator and consultant in three NIH funded research grants. Dr. Treves intends to continue teaching, writing, and participating in research activities in image optimization and radioactive dose reduction.
