ROCKY MOUNT, NC, October 08, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Audrey Grandy-Watson, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. During the early stages of her career, Dr. Grandy-Watson obtained a Bachelor of Science in healthcare services from the State University of New York at Empire State College in 2005. Following this accomplishment, she continued her education with a Master of Science, magna cum laude, in human services and counseling specialization from Capella University in 2007. Dr. Grandy-Watson concluded her academic efforts in 2014, whereupon she earned a Doctor of Philosophy, with honors.
Dr. Grandy-Watson initially gained experience as a junior research scientist with New York University from 2010 to 2011. She subsequently participated in a grant-funded project based at the Rikers Island Correctional Facility, through which she interviewed and facilitated mindfulness meditation groups with approximately 200 incarcerated youths. As a research assistant and case manager with addiction treatment center Samaritan Village, Dr. Grandy-Watson assisted the staffing team with clinical interventions, formulated and implemented treatment plans, provided case management services and managed the client admission and assessment process.
Since 2014, as an HIV/AIDS case manager with My Sister's Keeper of the Triangle, a chronic illness health provider in the Raleigh-Durham region of North Carolina, Dr. Grandy-Watson has facilitated admission, service planning, crisis intervention, monitoring and follow-up services to individuals with HIV/AIDS. Additionally, since 2016, she provides superior care as a licensed clinical professional counselor with the Robeson Health Care Corporation, where she is responsible for providing individual and group treatment sessions to the residents of a 24-hour substance abuse facility. Dr. Grandy-Watson also provides direct participant services, outreach services, emergency transportation, mental health and substance abuse counseling, and case management for children.
Dr. Grandy-Watson first became a substance abuse counselor after providing her services for a hospital's methadone clinic. Drawing extensively from her own past traumas and experiences, she believes she can leave a positive impact in the world. In the coming years, Dr. Grandy-Watson would like to open a transitional housing project for training former inmates to re-enter society and decrease recidivism. Dr. Grandy-Watson is currently employed at Edgecombe Community College as an instructor for adult high school students.
