Ms. Force is a retired school counselor who spent the last 20 years of her career at King Springs Elementary School in Smyrna, Georgia. Aligned with the Cobb County School District since 1985, she was also a counselor at LaBelle Elementary School and Fair Oaks Elementary School in Marietta and served as the director of the afterschool program at Labelle Elementary for four years between 1985 and 1989. An experienced and talented member of the faculty, Ms. Force formerly worked in the New York and Florida public school systems. She also spent several years aligned as a trainer for the Real Colors of National Curriculum and Training Institute Inc. Ms. Force served as co-director for the Smart Kids Organization in Smyrna for three years. In retirement, Ms. Force has served as chair of the Thyme to Read Book Club and as a member of the education committee for Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County.
Civically, Ms. Force has been active in a plethora of activities, including with Hands On Atlanta and rainbow Buddies of Egleston. She has also been involved as a facilitator of Rainbow Support Group, an advisory board member of Peace Mobile Organization, and a volunteer with Master Gardener. Among other contributions, Ms. Force has assisted the Parent Teacher Association as the chairperson of the parent teacher committee, King Spring Elementary School as the chair of the multicultural committee and in various roles with the Griffin Middle School Parent Teacher Association in Smyrna.
Before embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Force pursued a formal education at Carson-Newman College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1969. Following this accomplishment, she attained a Master of Arts in education in counseling at Florida Atlantic University in 1971. Eminently qualified in her field, Ms. Force is a certified school counselor in Georgia.
To better support her career efforts, Ms. Force has been engaged as a member of multiple different professional organizations, particularly the Cobb County School Counselor Association, where she has served in various capacities, including as the community outreach co-chairperson and treasurer. Other memberships to her credit include the American Counseling Association, the National School Age Child Care Alliance and, among others, the Georgia School Age Child Care Association.
Selected for several awards for her work, Ms. Force received an American Hero in Education Award from Reader's Digest Association and a Today's Kids Award from Brawner Hospital in 1993. The following year, she was honored with an Elementary School Counselor of the Year Award for Cobb County, Georgia, in 1994. She also received a Unique Student Involvement Award for the 1996 to 1997 academic school year and a Radiance Award from Cobb County School Counselor Association for the 2005 to 2006 year. More recently, Ms. Force was honored with a First Place in Research Award from the International Master Gardener Search for Excellence Award.
