Fascinated by early childhood development, Ms. Harris completed drama coursework at the University of Miami in 1967 and earned a Bachelor of Science in primary and elementary education through Monmouth University in 1970. Following this accomplishment, she began in the field as an early childhood and religious school director for Ramat Shalom in Plantation, where she remained active while earning a Master of Science in early childhood administration at Nova Southeastern University. Over the years, Ms. Harris gained valuable expertise in the field of education as an Early Childhood Director for Chabad of Hallandale and as the Director of Nadel Center for Early Childhood Education at Congregation B'nai Israel.
Dedicated to furthering her industry expertise, Ms. Harris has also received a Florida Child Care Education Program Director's credential, a certificate through the National Council for Behavioral Health for Youth Mental Health, a Kinder Music Certificate, a Certificate of Jewish Learning through Florence Melton Adult Mini School, and a course recognition through the Anti-Defamation League. Drawing on her considerable expertise, she serves as the Director of Lifelong Learning for Congregation B'nai Israel. In this capacity, Ms. Harris works with children, teachers, parents and clergy. Additionally, she hires and manages staff, oversees classroom activities, develops policies and discusses student progress with parents.
In order to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, Ms. Harris aligns herself with the National Association of Temple Educators, the Jewish Education Commission, the Jewish Education Task Force for South Palm Beach County, and the Jewish Council of Early Childhood Directors. Among her career highlights, she is most proud to have helped numerous parents to identify their children's needs and seek early intervention for their children. In addition, she is proud to have spurred an increase in child enrollment at Congregation B'nai Israel's schools. Looking toward to the future, Ms. Harris aims to envision new programs for Congregation B'nai Israel for both the child and adult communities.
