Born in Le Mans, France, Val relocated to the United States at the age of nine. Settling in Atlanta, he attended the Atlanta International School and received an international baccalaureate bilingual diploma. He subsequently studied at Georgia Institute of Technology, where he attained a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 2003.
After graduating from Georgia Tech, Val began his career in multi-unit restaurant management, which continued until 2012. Val went on to own and, eventually, sell two Atlanta location Firehouse Sub franchises. During this period, he also became a real estate investor and, in 2014, founded Val Buys Houses, LLC.
As a leader in the community, Val served as the treasurer for the board of directors of the Vinings Walk Homeowners Association Inc. between 2009 and 2017. A dedicated civic advocate, his family often donates to various causes close to their heart. Likewise, Val's daughter is saving money to build a well in Ethiopia that will provide more than 100 families with clean water.
