ODESSA, TX, October 14, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Larry G. Daniel, PhD, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Long driven to pursue a career that could exert a positive impact on others, Dr. Daniel was drawn to education since his early childhood. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Southeastern University, a Master of Arts in special education from the University of New Orleans and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational administration from the University of New Orleans. He began his career as a public school teacher and soon moved on to college teaching and then to administration. At the University of North Florida, he served as the dean for more than a decade, and later distinguished himself at the Citadel, where he served as a professor and dean of the Zucker Family School of Education. Presently, Dr. Daniel is the dean of the College of Education at the University of Texas Permian Basin.
In his current position, Dr. Daniel focuses on community relations and student service. Throughout the course of his career, he has been most proud of his work in building new programs that focus on the connection between the university and the community. Previously, he developed and expanded professional development schools at the University of North Florida, a program that fostered partnerships with urban schools in the community. After several years of operation, the program was responsible for higher learning outcomes in those schools than others in the same community. In addition, teachers who took part in the program often remained in these underfunded schools and contributed to better retention rates.
As a respected voice in his field, Dr. Daniel often serves as a public speaker at local events and organizations. For his efforts over the years, he received the Walter Matthews Historical Contribution Award for Sustained Leadership from the Mid South Research Education Association. Likewise, Dr. Daniel was bestowed with the Leadership Award from the Florida Association for Colleges for Teacher Education.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Daniel has attributed his professional success to influential people who have invested in him over the years. He strives to pay it forward to people following his trail in order to continue making a difference. Presently, Dr. Daniel remains aware of developments in the field through his affiliation with the American Association for Colleges for Teacher Education and the Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities. Looking toward the future, he hopes to remain active in a leadership position at the university.
