Mr. Haynie obtained a bachelor's degree in radio-television sports journalism with a minor in Spanish from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, in 2016, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the National Association of Black Journalists and the Mizzou Black Men's Initiative, an organization providing opportunities for self-awareness and identity development through educational, cultural and social programming. In 2020, Mr. Haynie continued his education with a Juris Doctor, graduating cum laude, from the John Marshall Law School, now the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where he was president of the student bar association, wrote for the John Marshall Law Review, appeared on the Dean's List from 2017 to 2020, won two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards and volunteered for the Black Male Law and Black Entertainment Sports Law associations.
Mr. Haynie gained initial experience in broadcasting as an intern with ABC Television from 2012 to 2014, a reporter with KBIA-FM, a National Public Radio station in Columbia in 2014, a student reporter with the Mizzou Network and a reporter and anchor for KOMU TV from 2015 to 2016. He additionally provided excellent service as a videographer with Mediacom Communications in 2016.
Turning his attention to the law, Mr. Haynie has prospered as a corporate associate with the Chicago-based law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP beginning in 2020. In addition, he has made an impact as creator of the Law School Mentor, an Instagram and Facebook mentoring page to help students excel during their time in law school, while providing them access to different professionals in the legal field to connect with and ask questions. Mr. Haynie also founded EY2: Encourage You 2, Inc., a social media movement geared to motivate, inspire and encourage people to make a positive change in society. Additionally, he recently launched a podcast titled "Per My Last: The Podcast," a visual podcast found on YouTube which aims to provide the next generation with access to successful models to both learn from and replicate.
After beginning his career in journalism because he wished to inspire others with his voice using storytelling, Mr. Haynie decided he could make more of an impact in the legal profession because he could be directly impactful rather than relaying information. According to Mr. Haynie, his career highlight was closing a $12 billion deal with Kirkland. In the coming years, he hopes to continue to help others and initiate a platform creating a community of successful individuals that are looking to enter the field of law. He also hopes to become one of the youngest shareholders in his firm.
