Don Hodor's career in business started at Gimbels Department Stores in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia as the Senior Information Technology Director. His responsibilities included all point of sale cash registers, network computers, telephone systems and surveillance systems. He was on the operating board reporting directly to the CEO and President. After 10 years at Gimbels, he founded Southpointe Telecom Technology in 1990. STT is an information technology company specializing in VOIP telephone systems, computer networks, surveillance cameras, entry access control and audio/paging systems for office, industry and executive homes. Don founded the Southpointe Chamber of Commerce in 1993 with the purpose of networking between businesses and establishing a database of the companies in the Western Pennsylvania industrial park, Southpointe. In 2011, Don started "Southpointe Quarterly Report & Directory," a comprehensive magazine listing businesses, articles and points of interest in the Southpointe Business Community.
Don is a 20 year Board member of Washington County Council on Economic Development, Past President, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Past President, 84 Chamber of Commerce, Past President, Rotary Club, Houston, PA, member Masonic Lodge 164 and a 32nd degree Sottish Rite member. Washington, PA. He is Director of the 25 year Annual Southpointe Tradeshows. He has participated on the panel discussion for Post-Gazette Energy Forum and appeared on several TV programs on NBC-TV morning shows. Don hosts a weekly radio program as well.
He attended Penn Technical College, Pittsburgh, PA and Maryland University. His military training was at Ft. Gordon, GA. Aviation Electronic Army Military School as a communication Sgt. for 28th Aviation Division, Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a Specialist on Aviation Electronics on the UH-1 Helicopter. He later certified as a fixed wing single engine VFR pilot.
For recreation he is a Federal Aviation Association certified private pilot. He has captained a 58 ft. Hatteras Motor Yacht taking it from Annapolis, Maryland to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and later to Key West and the Bahamas. Don relaxes by sailing a 34 ft. C&C on the Chesapeake Bay, playing piano and guitar.
Don is married to Geri with one son and two daughters and five grandchildren.
