Judy Inez Orosz, MD, BS, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Retiring from her field in 2012 as a medical staff member at Connelly Health Clinic in Fort Gordon, Georgia, Dr. Orosz was a respected physician who specialized in pediatrics for over 15 years before expanding her practice to include Family Medicine for the next 25 years. Supported by several great mentors throughout her career, including Dr. Hossein Massoud, she was also supported by her mother and grandmother to pursue her aspirations. Passionate about her work, Dr. Orosz began her career in private practice in Cartersville, Georgia, after completing her formal education.

Dr. Orosz served as president of the medical staff at Sam Howell Memorial Hospital while in Cartersville (Bartow County) Georgia. After returning to Augusta, Georgia in 1979, Dr. Orosz served on the staff of Gracewood State School and Hospital until she accepted a position at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics from 1980 to 1986. During this time, she was Assistant Coordinator of Inpatient and Outpatient Pediatrics at University Hospital and served as Director of aAmbulatory Pediatrics at University Hospital as well. In 1987, Dr. Orosz served on the Medical Staff of Eku Baptist Hospital in Eku, Nigeria for one year then returned to Augusta, Georgia, working in local urgent care centers prior to moving to Lexington, Kentucky to attend Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. While in Louisville, she worked at Alliant Health Immediate Care Centers. In 1991, Dr. Orosz was appointed by Sudan Interior Mission as a Medical Missionary to Egbe, Nigeria where she served until 1995 then spent the following year at Evangel Hospital in Jos, Nigeria.

Furthermore, Dr. Orosz notably contributed to several scholarly articles featured in various peer-reviewed journals as a result of her stellar research. She further flourished on the Advisory Board for the Bartow County Training Center and was affiliated with the March of Dimes Foundation while in Cartersville, Georgia. While at University Hospital, Dr. Orosz was instrumental in the formation of the Augusta Child Advocacy Center.

Born in Woodbury, Georgia, Dr. Orosz initially earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA) in 1967. Soon thereafter, she obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree at the Medical College of Georgia (Augusta, GA) in 1971. She interned at Baroness Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee (1971-72), and completed a Pediatric Residency at T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital there between 1972-74 becoming Chief Resident in 1973. Dr. Orosz also completed postgraduate coursework at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary between 1989 and 1990 in Louisville, Kentucky.

To support her professional endeavors, Dr. Orosz was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as the Georgia Chapter. She is also a lifetime member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Orosz is also a member of the National Baptist Medical-Dental Fellowship having served on the Finance Committee. She served as Vice President and President of the Georgia Chapter of BMDF. Dr. Orosz was a founding member and former treasurer of the Women's Physician Council of the Medical College of Georgia and is a member of the Alumni Association of the Medical College of Georgia. She has been a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia for over 35 years.

Honoring her achievements, Dr. Orosz was recognized as the Teacher of the Year by the Medical College of Georgia's department of pediatrics in 1981. She was also the recipient of the annual Social Worker Award by University Hospital in 1985 and received a Physician's Recognition Award on nine occasions between 1981 and 2010. For her volunteer efforts, she accepted an Owen Cooper Award in 1990 for her service in Mano River, Liberia and Eku, Nigeria. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Orosz has been cited in the first edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, the 20th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and the 15th, 16th, and 25th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
