NEW CANAAN, CT, October 21, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rev. Thomas W. Nissley has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With expertise in psychotherapy and the examination of family systems, Mr. Nissley lends more than 40 years of experience of community service and the search for useful personal knowledge. As the president of the Ridgelea Institute, he hosted a training institute for psychotherapists who came from clinics as far away as Germany and South Africa to study developmental theories in Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Therapy.
Mr. Nissley also edits the Ridgelea Reports on Theatre, annotating the arts in Connecticut. He is a long-time member of the Connecticut Critics Circle.
Mr. Nissley was educated at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he completed his undergraduate studies in 1955 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and business. He attended Princeton Theological Seminary, from which he earned a Master of Divinity in theology, worship and education in 1958. He also studied practical theology and the nature of Christian worship in a doctoral program at the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland in 1970. In that same year he was a participant in a major Ecumenical Symposium on the Dating of Easter, held in Geneva, and co-sponsored by the World Council of Churches, Orthodox Churches, and the Vatican.
He is also a Presbyterian Minister, Honorably Retired, who served the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, CT, as Associate Pastor with expertise in Education and Drama Programs from 1964 to 1975. In Stamford he was also an elected member of the Board of Education, a director of the United Way, a member of the Coliseum Authority, and the principal writer and a board member of the Stamford Day Care Program.
In other volunteer service in Connecticut, Mr. Nissley is vice-chairman of the Board of Preservation Connecticut, and a member of the Board of the New Canaan Museum and Historical Society. He is also the Chairman of the Historic District Commission in New Canaan.
Clinically certified in Transactional Analysis, he helped to establish the Eastern TA Association, was Program Chair of the International TA Association, and still serves on the Council of the USA TA Association. He has presented a workshop on the Power within a Family System at conferences throughout the world.
