Ms. Walsh attributes her success to her devotion to her students and her ability to adapt easily to a variety of situations.
TULSA, OK, November 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debra Darrow Walsh has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.
For four decades, Ms. Walsh has found success as a teacher. She is employed at Marquette Catholic School, where she currently teaches middle school mathematics for sixth and seventh grades and pre-algebra for eighth grade. Additionally, Ms. Walsh serves as a homeroom teacher to the eighth-grade class and is a member of the School Assessment Committee.
Since coming of age, Ms. Walsh has always enjoyed working with children. As a result, she initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. She completed her education in 1995, at which time she earned a Master of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. A self-proclaimed fighter for the underdog, Ms. Walsh thereafter spent the first 28 years of her career teaching special education.
Dedicated to her role as a philanthropist, Ms. Walsh has participated in mission trips to Mexico and has contributed to numerous charities. Throughout the course of her career, she has maintained a professional affiliation with the National Education Association. Within her community, Ms. Walsh contributed her expertise to the Middle School Math Group in Wisconsin from 1986-2003. She also was a member of the Diocesan of Tulsa Catholic Schools Committee for writing the curriculum objectives for grades six, seven and eight. She is currently a participant within the MidSchool Math community and has done presentations on inclusionary education.
Ms. Walsh attributes her success to her devotion to her students and her ability to adapt easily to a variety of situations. Above all, she draws immense satisfaction from watching the proverbial light bulb turn on when a struggling student begins to understand her lessons. Her classroom motto is:
"Work for a cause, not applause. Live life to express not impress. Don't strive to make your presence noticed make your absence felt"
Looking toward the future, her goal is to wind down her career and focus on enjoying her well-earned retirement. However, Ms. Walsh still aims to continue mentoring young educators and perhaps working as a consultant for as long as she is able.
