A seasoned medical professional, Dr. Lee embarked on his medical journey during the early 1980s, during which time he received a Bachelor of Science in medicine from Chungnam National University. Subsequently, he expanded upon his expertise and received a master's degree in anesthesiology and a Doctor of Philosophy in anesthesiology from Chungnam National University in 1986 and 1989, respectively, before completing postdoctoral coursework through the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine on their Miami Project to Cure Paralysis in 1991.
Upon finishing his postdoctoral studies, Dr. Lee began working with Chungnam National University Hospital as chief of the Intensive Care Unit between 1992 and 1998. Over the years, he also gained valuable expertise as chief of the operating room, director of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, chief of the Department of Quality Assurance, chief of the Department of Education and Research, and director of the Department of Clinical Trial Center between 2004 and 2013. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, he excels today as a reviewer for the Korean Workers' Welfare Service and the Korean National Health Insurance Service, as well as chief of the 3rd Panel of IRB for Chungnam National University Hospital.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lee has contributed to about seventy articles, including "NFAT5 Deficiency Alleviates Formalin-Induced Inflammatory Pain Through mTOR," "Evans Blue Reduces Neuropathic Pain Behavior by Inhibiting Spinal ATP Release" and "Sevoflurane Exposure during the Critical Period Affects Synaptic Transmission and Mitochondrial Respiration but Not Long-term Behavior in Mice." Demonstrating versatility in his field, he is a past chairman of the Korean Society of Anesthesiologists.
For his outstanding body of work, Dr. Lee won an award from the Center of Excellence's Korean Regional Clinical Center Program at the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2014. In the coming years, he intends to experience the continued success of his career.
