Ms. Mazor earned an undergraduate degree in international development from the University of Michigan and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from George Washington University Law School, where she graduated Order of the Coif. After law school, Ms. Mazor gained experience and exposure as a law clerk to the Honorable Patrick Duggan in the Eastern District of Michigan – a role she held for over three years. Ms. Mazor then joined Butzel Long's White Collar Criminal Defense practice. At the firm, Ms. Mazor worked on various matters such as an international criminal antitrust investigation where her team secured a declination of prosecution letter for their client and the largest environmental fraud case ever prosecuted in the Eastern District of Michigan.
Eager to return to her pre-law social justice roots, and mindful of Justice Thurgood Marshall's advice that "In recognizing the humanity of our fellow beings, we pay ourselves the highest tribute," Ms. Mazor left big law for the Federal Community Defender Office in early 2019.
