LAKE BARRINGTON, IL, November 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donn Gerry Ziebell has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Ziebell is a retired metallurgical engineer who spent decades in industry before retiring in 2004. He worked at solving metallurgical problems within aluminum, nuclear fuels and fiber metal industries. Later he received a U.S. Patent in 1972 for his employer by inventing a permeable support for fluidized beds. In 1983, Ziebell Associates, Inc. was manufacturing consultants. Keebler company hand packaged "irregular shaped home-baked cookies." The cookie industry believed automated packaging was impossible. In three years Ziebell's pilot line proved a line of 120 home-baked cookies per minute could each be rapidly weighed and mechanically packaged within industry's weight specifications.
In addition to his tenure in engineering, Dr. Ziebell picked up an artist paintbrush for the first time in 1952 during undergraduate studies semester break. Before age 6 he remembers his father in a white smock standing by an easel and oil painting. Later he followed in his father's footsteps. Dr. Ziebell was known as an artist only by neighbors and circle of friends. He spent 50 years to date developing a portfolio of 51 oil paintings. He participated in a few National juried art exhibitions. "A Blue Ball in Kabul" won the purchase award in a Galesburg, Illinois exhibition. The Director of the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery gave Third Place to his "Pencil L Hunter with his Missing Hat" in a Winston-Salem exhibition. Dr. Ziebell's 7ft x 5ft painting "400 Split Rails for One Yard of Cloth" was dedicated into the Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois, 2021. Over the course of his career as an artist, Dr. Ziebell has donated seven of his large paintings to organizations, including the two 5ft x 7ft paintings that hang in the pediatric ward at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois. They commemorate the care that his amazing wife received at the facility before passing away in 2009. One other large painting with a Biblical scene hangs in a church in Long Grove, Illinois. Additionally, Dr. Ziebell has published four books, which can be found on Amazon and Audible. Among them, his 2007 book is titled "Gorky, Russia; First Man In"; Memoirs for being the first American allowed inside Russia's closed exile city.
Among his civic contributions, Dr. Ziebell was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts until college. He credits his professional success on the discipline of earning BSA merit badges; learn many different skills and subjects, demonstrate your knowledge/ability to earn merit badges. This undergirds one's life's successes. Dr. Ziebell ended his work career as Exec. V.P. for six years with Slavic Gospel Association, a ministry into Russia, then six years as V.P. Administration for Chicago's Pacific Garden Mission, the second oldest U.S mission to the homeless; both nonprofit ministries.
Highly educated, Dr. Ziebell initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in metallurgical engineering at the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. He subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and marketing, with distinction, at the University of New Haven and a Doctor of Philosophy in cross-cultural management at the Union Institute and University.
