Driven to help other women struggling with addiction, Ms. Van Wright currently excels as an evangelist and administrative assistant with Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She has been additionally active as the founder and executive director of H.O.P.E.E. House Inc., which provides transitional living and counseling services to adult women in recovery from addiction. On a daily basis, Ms. Van Wright oversees operations, including taking the women out for grocery shopping once a week, receiving residents from in-patient facilities and interviewing, admitting and orienting the residents on the house rules.
Early in her career, Ms. Van Wright gained valuable expertise in the field of mental health when she began working at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital in the early 70's beginning as a clerical in the Forensic Unit to advance to being the Administrative Assistant to the Complex Administrator in the Admission Unit that included supervising the clerical staff to provide continuous 24-hour coverage 7 days a week. During this time, she began to pursue her vocational endeavors in the field of substance abuse and attended formal training offered at St. Francis Hospital in Trenton, NJ. She attended classes after finishing her work shift at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital. In 2002, Drucilla retired from this institute with 28 years of service described with such words as "loyal and devoted." Following retirement Ms. Van Wright remained committed to helping women and became an Outreach Advocate Counselor for A Woman's Place for 3 years after being trained and receiving certification from the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Following this vocation, she began working as a Scheduler for the Family Service Association of Bucks County and remained with organization for 4 years.
As she attended City Wide Interdenominational Christian Teaching Institute and received a Certificate of Completion, she realized this was not enough and went on to pursue the Ministry of Evangelism and was licensed as an Evangelist to preach in 2004. In fulfilling the mandates of the Doctrine and Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Drucilla attended the African Methodist Episcopal Ministerial Training Institute in the first class for the Ministry of Evangelism and graduated "licensed to preach."
Still keeping substance abuse in the forefront, in 2009, she attended Kaplan University to enhance her career helping women in addiction. She graduated Summa Cum Laude receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in substance abuse graduating in 2013. Ms. Van Wright is affiliated with Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society. Currently she is a member of the Bucks County Recovery House Association and is the Executive Director of H.O.P.E.E. House Inc, a transitional living facility for women in addiction. H.O.P.E.E. is an acronym for Helping Other People Endure by Empowerment. Future plans include continuing to help women in a help needed process continue to thrive to live clean and without a substance.
