Certified as a health coach to take a more holistic approach to her work, Ms. Betts has excelled in the human services field over the course of her 20-year career. She currently serves as the executive director of Haven of the Dan River Region, for which she has supervised the staff, wrote grants to secure funding and assisted clients since 2020. Haven of the Dan River Region is a non-profit organization that helps victims of domestic and sexual violence by providing emotional and counseling support, hospital accompaniments, emergency shelter and limited legal counseling services.
Ms. Betts has always been an observer and emphasizes the importance of family dynamics, along with how broken and life-altering some situations can be to those affected. Helping people become whole and healthy is something she has always been inspired to accomplish. Ms. Betts has been additionally active as a facilitator for the Complete Health Improvement Program and a member of the American Association for Christian Counselors.
Upon pursuing her formal education, Ms. Betts earned a Bachelor of Science in family studies from Southern Adventist University 2012. She subsequently obtained a Master of Arts in human services counseling from Liberty University in 2014. At the beginning of her career, Ms. Betts worked as a digital editor for Lifetouch from 2000 to 2006 before accepting a position as a health information clerk at the Chattanooga Heart Institute for one year.
Ms. Betts found success as an administrative assistant at the Gethsemane Christian SDA Junior Academy, a field worker for the Center for Adult Education and a freelancer with Direct Care Services between 2008 and 2015. She later contributed as a human trafficking coordinator and victim advocate for Help, Incorporated: Center Against Violence from 2015 to 2018. Ms. Betts initially dedicated her time and resources to Haven of the Dan River Region from 2018 to 2019 as a case manager and residential services coordinator prior to a brief post as a mobile victim advocate with the Southside Survivor Response Center Inc. from 2019 to 2020.
