Mr. Chirichiello, professor emeritus of economics and monetary economics at Sapienza University of Rome, began his career on campus as an assistant professor in 1972, shortly after graduating from the institution. His tenure included serving as the chairperson of the Institute of Economics and Finance of the faculty of law, chairperson of the evaluation team of the faculty of law, and executive dean for the structures of the faculty of law. Mr. Chirichiello was also active on numerous committees within the faculty of commercial law and economics, science and environmental security and European private law, and served the board of the department of DSG.
A highly skilled economist, Mr. Chirichiello garnered a laudable reputation as a leader in his field. He has enjoyed the opportunity to serve as an auditor for various scientific projects on behalf of the Italian Ministry for Scientific Research, was a member of the Center of Experimental Economics' scientific committee, served on the board at LUISS University and, among other commitments, maintained involvement as a member of several national P&T commissions. As a respected voice in his area of expertise, Mr. Chirichiello has contributed several books, including "The Integration Between Price Theory and Monetary Theory" in 1982, "A Course in Basic Economics" in 1995 and "Principles of Basic Economics" in 2002. Other books in English are "Macroeconomic Models and Controversies", 1994, Intertemporal Macroeconomic Models, Money and Rational Choices, 2000, and Macroeconomics, 2014. Likewise, he has contributed to over 57 scholarly articles in various professional journals.
Mr. Chirichiello received a bachelor's degree in economics at the University of Rome in 1971 under the tutelage of Manlio Resta and Fausto Vicarelli. The following year, he was honored by the Savings Bank of Rome for the best economics dissertation during the 1971 academic school year. Eminently qualified in his field, Mr. Chirichiello is a member of the Italian Economic Society, the American Economic Association and the Royal Economic Society.
