Jeffrey W. Allison is esteemed as the director of statewide programs and exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Mr. Allison is esteemed as the director of statewide programs and exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Since 1997, he has also held the role of the Paul Mellon Collection educator. Earlier in his career, he served as the director of annual fund and special projects for Virginia Intermont College. From 1988 to 1991, Mr. Allison was active as the director of the Art Services Network in Richmond.
Over the course of his prolific career, Mr. Allison has notably curated over 40 museum exhibitions and conducted over 700 lectures. His personal artwork is featured in many collections, including for Capital One. He has also been recruited as a consultant on multiple news articles and television documentaries. Mr. Allison's area of expertise is in art history, 19th century photography history, British sporting art and 19th century French art.
Mr. Allison obtained a bachelor's degree in photography and film from Virginia Intermont College and a Master of Fine Arts in photography and film from the Virginia Commonwealth University-School of the Arts. Since 2016, he has been a trusted member of the board of directors for the Virginia Children's Book Festival. Mr. Allison is additionally affiliated with the governing council of the Virginia Association of Museums and the board of trustees for Virginia Intermont College.
Mr. Allison has been involved with the Virginia Poverty Law Center and the Torpedo Factory Arts Center. An expert in his field, he has been distinguished as a Person of the Year by the Richmond Times Dispatch and the John Kent Shumate Jr. Advocate of the Year by the Virginia Poverty Law Center. Mr. Allison intends to continue to work at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts prior to retiring.
