Dr. Abdallah is a professor and the chairman of the manufacturing engineering department in the college of engineering, science, technology and agriculture at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. A faculty member for the past 35 years, he is passionate about teaching and inspiring his students to pursue careers in engineering. In addition to his tenured position on campus, Dr. Abdallah has served as the director for the Dayton Islamic Academy Inc., a private middle school in Beavercreek, Ohio, since 1998.
Before working as an educator, Dr. Abdallah spent several years in the field, initially as an image analyst for the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo between 1981 and 1984, then as a radiology computer specialist for Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit from 1984 to 1986. He also briefly served as a consultant for Tracktell in Dayton, Ohio, for three years, beginning in 1987. Among other professional accomplishments, Dr. Abdallah was involved in a summer faculty research program for imaging with the U.S. Navy and American Society for Engineering Education in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and in the sensors research directorate for radars at the U.S. Air Force Research Lab during 2001 and 2002.
As a scholar, Dr. Abdallah has been engaged in numerous research projects. He has disseminated much of his findings by authoring numerous scholarly articles. Aligned with several industry-related organizations to support his work, Dr. Abdallah has maintained his membership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Association of University Professors and the Association of American Artificial Intelligence. He is also a member of Xi Pi Mu and Eta Kappa Nu.
Encouraged to study engineering while coming of age in Egypt, Dr. Abdallah notably received a Master of Science at Ain Shams University in Cairo in 1981. Relocating to the U.S., he attained a Master of Science at the University of Rochester in 1981 and a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Toledo in 1986. He is also a registered professional engineer in the state of Ohio. Well regarded for his accomplishments, Dr. Abdallah received several scholarships and was the recipient of a first assistantship from the University of Toledo. He was later recognized with a Best Research Award in 1984 and a Faculty of the Year Award in Research from Central State University in 2001.
