Now retired from a long and successful career in the textile industry, Ms. Bush was the president, owner and director of Bush Associates in Punta Gorda, Florida, from 1998 to 2010. She also led the casual division for Haggar Clothing Company as a senior production manager in Dallas between 2007 and 2010. Having garnered a reputation as a creative and experience production manager, Ms. Bush was notably responsible for collaborating with wholesalers by finding the right space for them to manufacture their product. Among her many clients, she worked closely with Byer California, a large, multi-brand design, marketing and manufacturing company for clothing.
Ms. Bush, who began her career with Singer Sewing Company, spent more than 40 years in the industry. She subsequently accepted roles with San Francisco Shirtworks, where she began as a production manager in 1971 and advanced to become the vice president of operations between 1978 and 1980. She then became the manager of sourcing programs for the Eximco division of Levi Strass & Company, the chief executive officer of Murlin Apparel Group Inc., an import production manager and director of import sourcing for Koret of California, and the director of operations for Eileen West/Lanz of Salzburg-The San Francisco Mercantile. While employed with Koret, Ms. Bush significantly brought down costs and completed 13 million units, all of which was imported.
To better serve her community, Ms. Bush enjoys contributing to various nonprofits. To wit, she has notably been involved with the American Red Cross and the Breast Cancer Society. A longstanding member of Phi Kappa Phi since 1965, Ms. Bush has also been involved with the Beta Club and the Student Cooperative Association, as well as the Future Homemakers of America.
During the course of her educational efforts, Ms. Bush secured a William H. Danforth scholarship. She studied at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in clothing, textiles and related arts in 1965. Ms. Bush also completed coursework in interior decorating at Plattsburgh State University College (now SUNY-Plattsburgh), as well as coursework toward a master's degree.
