Drawn toward the culinary arts due to his early childhood experiences, Mr. Gravino serves as the president of Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House, of which he is the second-generation owner. Having taken the reins of the business following the passing of his father, he holds an Associate of Arts in Culinary Arts, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Food Service Management, both from Johnson and Wales University. He also bears certification in food safety via the state of Rhode Island. In 2015, Mr. Gravino developed two other businesses in collaboration with the original restaurant; Iggy's Boardwalk and Iggy's Creamery.
During the pandemic, Mr. Gravino and his staff worked diligently to find new ways to maintain their business in order to become more effective and efficient. They eventually decided to reinvent their business by working with digital delivery applications. In his capacity as the owner of the company, Mr. Gravino oversees all restaurant managers, as well as the distribution of their products to various locations.
Well regarded for his accomplishments, Mr. Gravino has been featured in such publications as the Providence Journal, Travel Astoria, USA Today, CBS News, the Rhode Show and CNET. Over the years, he has been most grateful for his team, which has enabled the restaurant to earn several recognitions for their food and service. In addition, the Early Show has recognized Iggy's for the best clam chowder in the country for eight consecutive years. Likewise, the restaurant was recognized for the best seafood in the country in 2019.
Mr. Gravino is grateful for the influence of his father, who inspired him to continue working toward success. In the coming years, he plans to expand the business by franchising outside of Rhode Island. Mr. Gravino would also like to establish food trucks, and work toward securing Iggy's status as a household name.
