Now retired, Mr. Jones began his career in Chicago shortly after exiting the military in 1974 as the director of Mid-East operations for Telemedia, Inc. Transitioning into consulting shortly thereafter, he worked for several companies, including Price-Waterhouse in Bellevue, Washington, before ultimately forming his own firm, Stan Jones and Associates, in 1990. Specializing in contract management, Mr. Jones advised employees in higher management level positions about their expected relationships with the government, while also ensuring that the government performed their contracts according to the terms. He had an office in Renton, Washington, from 1990 to 1998 and a second office in Bozeman, Montana, from 1990 to 2013 until retiring to Ecuador. Additionally, Mr. Jones taught in the College of Business at his alma mater, Montana State University, in Bozeman for two years between 1999 and 2001.
Proud to have served his country, Mr. Jones notably enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an officer in 1961 and rose to lieutenant colonel. Deployed on combat missions to Vietnam, he was promoted to major and served as a weapons systems officer and then as a procurement officer for Boeing in Seattle. As a civilian, Mr. Jones became active in politics, running for governor of Montana in 2000, 2004 and 2008 and for the U.S. Senate in 2002 and 2006.
Mr. Jones was born in Bozeman. He studied locally, acquiring a Bachelor of Science at Montana State University in 1961. He has also held a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University since 1970. He is a certified professional contract manager.
To support his professional endeavors, Mr. Jones has been active as a member of the National Contract Management Association. He was a chapter vice president of education for the organization between 1988 and 1990 and a chapter president from 1990 to 1992. The organization honored him with a fellowship. For his military service, Mr. Jones was decorated with a Distinguished Flying Cross in 1966. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been cited in the 54th edition of Who's Who in America and the 26th edition of Who's Who in the West.
