Drawing inspiration from the example of his family, which has boasted numerous health professionals, Dr. Lohr has accrued five decades of medical experience. For 50 years, he flourished as an obstetrician and gynecologist at Lexington Memorial Hospital, Lexington Medical Center and the Women's Center of Lexington prior to retiring in 2020 on the exact date he began his career 50 years earlier. Moreover, Dr. Lohr served as a residency program instructor from 2008 to 2020.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Lohr notably helped deliver over 18,000 newborn children. Additionally, he excelled as a flight surgeon in the Second Marine Air Wing at Cherry Point, North Carolina, for the United States Marine Corps. He was the recipient of several awards for best resident teacher and a multitude of awards from Lexington Memorial Hospital. Eminently qualified in his field, Dr. Lohr is certified in obstetrics and gynecology and has completed aviation medicine training at the U.S. Naval School of Aviation Medicine.
Dr. Lohr completed his undergraduate training in three years, after which he attained his MD degree at UNC School of Medicine. He then undertook an internship and one year residency in general surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then completed his military duty and returned to Chapel Hill for his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. To remain aware of developments in the field, he has been a member of the Davidson County Medical Society, the Southern Medical Association and the Nathan A. Womack Surgical Society. Likewise, Dr. Lohr is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the Robert A. Ross OBGYN Society.
