Author and educational consultant, Dr. Robbins-Wilf enjoyed a diverse career in education that began in 1971 as an elementary school teacher in Falls Church, Virginia. Relocating to the northeast, she initially spent a year teaching at Yeshiva Konvitz in New York City before being acquired by Wee Folk Nursery School in Short Hills, New Jersey. Hired as an intern in 1978, she excelled in her role, becoming a teacher and director and, ultimately, the owner between 1980 and 1981. Dr. Robbins-Wilf subsequently decided to venture into higher education, teaching reading courses at Seton Hall University and Middlesex County College in New Jersey and Long Island University and Pace University in New York before retiring.
Outside of her work as a teacher, Dr. Robbins-Wilf has enjoyed lecturing on a collection of significant reading figures. She also presented numerous workshops, was an adjunct visiting lecturer at Rutgers University in New Jersey and an educational consultant on behalf of Cranford High School. Moreover, she served as a founding board director for Stern College for Women, the undergraduate women's college of arts and sciences of Yeshiva University in New York City. Becoming a published author for the first time in 2017, Dr. Robbins-Wilf co-authored "Teenie Queenie Lights Up the Holidays" alongside Pamela Bloom.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Dr. Robbins-Wilf has enjoyed contributing to her community through various initiatives. She is presently a longtime member of the early childhood committee and a board director of the National Leadership Conference on Christians and Jews and has been a friend of the New York City Public Library since 1980. Dr. Robbins-Wilf was notably a member of the Hadassah, the Valerie Children's Fund and the Women's League of Conservative Judaism, and was the public library president of the Seton-Essex Reading Council.
Dr. Robbins-Wilf received a Bachelor of Arts at George Washington University in 1971, a Master of Arts at New York University in 1975, and a Master of Science and Doctor of Education at Yeshiva University in 1981 and 1986, respectively. She also completed postgraduate coursework at Saint Peter's College, Fordham University, and Monmouth University. Eminently qualified in her field, Dr. Robbins-Wilf is certified as an elementary school teacher in New York and New Jersey, a reading specialist in the state of New Jersey, and a principal, administrator and supervisor in the state of New York.
As a testament to her longevity in the field, Dr. Robbins-Wilf has been named as a lifetime member of the New York Academy of Science and the College Reading Association. She is also active on the council of the New York State Reading Association and is a member of the New Jersey Council of Teachers of English, the National Council of Teachers of English, the American Educational Research Association, the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and, among others, the International Reading Association. Recognized by the Seton-Essex Reading Council, Dr. Robbins-Wilf received several Professional Improvement Awards between 1984 and 1986 and a Certificate of Attendance Award in 1987. She also received an Award of Appreciation from the City of Hope in 1984 and an American Heritage Award from Essex County in 1985.
