O'Dell emeritus professor of commerce in the McIntire School of Commerce since 2018. An educator on campus since 1975, he held multiple faculty appointments during this tenure, including as a faculty liaison for the FBI Academy, team leader for the integrated core experience, international business and marketing coordinators, senior associate dean, Consumer Bankers Association's professor of commerce and an associate dean for external affairs. Dr. Kehoe also flourished in visiting professorships and other faculty positions at many different universities, including the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and the Nyenrode University in Breukelen, Netherlands.
Dr. Kehoe's involvement in academia also included numerous committee memberships, notably the endowed chairs committee for the McIntire School of Commerce between 1988 and 2018. As a part of his scholarly work, he has conducted extensive research and has become renowned for his expertise in such areas as global business strategy, global economic development, global economic integration, global marketing, and global business ethics.
As a business professional, Dr. Kehoe has accepted various management positions with Centrex Corporation, Phillips Petroleum Company, and Mercantile Stores Inc. He has also been recruited as a consulting expert and expert witness in antitrust litigation for several leading law firms. Dr. Kehoe has additionally operated as a consultant for the development of the Rolls-Royce Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing.
Dr. Kehoe became established as a prolific writer during his career, editing more than 10 books and penning many scholarly journal articles and manuscripts in his area of expertise. He has also participated in many conferences, seminars, and other events as a presenter and lecturer. A leader in numerous community-wide efforts, he formerly found success as a past chairman of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Greater Charlottesville, and other local organizations. Dr. Kehoe was additionally active in various roles with the Albemarle County Police Foundation, the Colonnade Club of UVA, the Virginia Aviation Board, the Paramount Theatre and Cultural Center, and the Junior Achievement of Central Virginia.
Dr. Kehoe initially earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1964. He subsequently obtained a master's degree in business administration at Xavier University in 1969 and a Doctor of Business Administration at the University of Kentucky in 1976. Licensed as a private pilot, Dr. Kehoe served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Dr. Kehoe has been selected as a fellow of the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences, the Gallup International Institute, the Society for Marketing Advances, and the American Marketing Association Doctoral Consortium. He had also maintained his involvement with the Society of Marketing Advances, the American Academy of Management, the American Marketing Association, the Society for Business Ethics, and the Academy of International Business. Furthermore, Dr. Kehoe has been recruited as the past president of the Allied Southern Business Association and a member of the board of directors of the Academy of Business Education.
Among his many recognitions, Dr. Kehoe was presented with the Jefferson Scholars Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Virginia, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences in 2018, a Distinguished Leadership Award from the National Association for Community Leadership in 1989, the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce's prestigious Paul Goodloe McIntire Citizenship Award in 2016, and an Outstanding Community Achievement Award from Marshall University in 2021. Additionally, he accepted a Doctoral Consortium fellowship. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Kehoe has been notably featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
