RICHMOND, VA, November 24, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ivan Keith Tolbert has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Supported by years of professional expertise, Mr. Tolbert serves as the Executive Director of Faith to Fate Ministries, Inc. and the Chief Executive Officer of Sacient Advance Care Planning LLC, which provides Medicare-approved advance care planning conversations and legal documentation services. In the latter role, he oversees administration, strategic planning and financial management. Likewise, Mr. Tolbert supervises a team of professionals, including physicians, lawyers, licensed clinical social workers, geriatricians, marketing, and finance officers.
His first brush with public attention came early on, when, as a high school senior, he was feted with the First-Place Best in Show Award by the Rotary Club of Hartford, CT, for his controversial, billboard-sized painting of a dollar bill featuring the image of composer Isaac Hayes, completed as part of a citywide competition to adorn the scaffolding at the downtown excavation site for the new Hartford Civic Center. As a result, he was interviewed on local news programs and featured in newspaper articles, leading to an invitation by WPOP News Radio for him to become the nation's first-ever African American to be professionally trained in the on-air broadcast news business.
During subsequent stages of his career, Mr. Tolbert gained valuable expertise as a program director with the Office of the Governor of Virginia from 2002 until 2007, as a Senior Aide to The Mayor of Newark, NJ, and as the communications director for the Virginia Department of Personnel and the Assistant Superintendent for the Virginia Department of Correctional Education between 1993 and 2001. Additionally, he worked as a radio news broadcaster for WPOP News Radio and WKND Radio, and as a newspaper reporter for the Hartford Times, before becoming the Assistant Director of Public Information at The University of Connecticut, and later the Director of Public Information at Montclair State University. He also has served as the Director of University Relations at Norfolk State University and as Director of Marketing and Business Development for Poplar Springs Hospital.
Noted as an expert in his field, Mr. Tolbert holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Hampton Institute, a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Education from Montclair State University, the latter degree earned as one of 20 participants in the first class chosen nationwide by The Education Commission of the States to model its groundbreaking new Alternate Route to Teacher Certification Program. In alignment with the National POLST Paradigm, Mr. Tolbert also holds instructor-level certification and two additional facilitator certifications for medical advance care planning conversations from Respecting Choices®, the world's leading medical ACP protocol, and he is a licensed K-12 school teacher. Throughout the course of his career, he has civically aligned himself as a board member for the Alzheimer's Association of Central Virginia, the Area Agency on Aging, the Chesterfield County Mental Health Services Board, The United Way of Virginia, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, as a National Fellow of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and he is a member of the Better Business Bureau of Central Virginia. While his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud to have personally and successfully pioneered the inventive community-based delivery of Medicare's new advance care planning benefit outside of a hospital or a doctor's office, a practical alternative pathway considered necessary because physicians typically do not have the time required to competently engage this important conversation individually with their Medicare patients, generally making this benefit unattainable for the 60 million-plus Medicare beneficiaries nationwide who are entitled to it under their existing coverage. Looking toward the future and building on his vast breadth of knowledge and experience, Mr. Tolbert aims to expand the scope of his business and continue his ministry's outreach programs.
