GRANBURY, TX, November 30, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Blocker has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
While coming of age, Dr. Blocker drew inspiration from the physicians he met at his local church and community. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in pre-medicine from Angelo State University, a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Blocker also attended the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine.
Dr. Blocker served in the U.S. Air Force for more than two decades, after which he retired as a Colonel and aerospace medicine specialist. His last position was as Aerospace Medicine Advisor to the Air Force Surgeon General's office, through which he was responsible for coordinating efforts regarding invisible wounds of war, such as traumatic brain injuries and PTSD. Presently, Dr. Blocker works as a senior aviation medical examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration, Local Public Health Authority (LHA) of Hood County with the Texas Department of State Health Services, Medical Director of Wound Care at Lake Granbury Medical Center and a primary care physician at Acton Medical Clinic.
As the local public health authority, Dr. Blocker serves as the interface between the state of Texas and the local community including government, schools, churches, businesses and individuals in the community to help connect them with public health support and preventive medicine. Recently, he has striven to help medical organizations, community businesses and schools protect themselves against COVID and other diseases. Furthermore, during his service in the Air Force, Dr. Blocker was responsible for coordinating aerospace medical issues in the Middle East from 2015 to 2016 as the Forward Surgeon for Air Forces supporting US Central Command. Civically, he has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Rotary Club, and served with the Veteran and First Responder Ministry and as a hospitality and outdoor adventure volunteer with his local church.
Dr. Blocker maintains his affiliation with the American Public Health Association, the Texas Public Health Association, the American Medical Association, the Civil Aviation Medical Association, the American Society of Aerospace Medicine Specialists, the Aerospace Medicine Association and the Society of USAF Flight Surgeons. Looking toward the future, he plans to continue building local medical infrastructure in a growing community. Dr. Blocker would also like to provide more jobs for recent graduates in the public health field.
