SAN JOSE, CA, November 30, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Doris T. Reed has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For more than ten years, Mrs. Reed has thrived as a private piano teacher at Sweet Harmony, which is her own music education studio. In addition to teaching basic piano techniques as well as the fundamentals of musical theory, she helps her students develop a thorough knowledge of various composers and musical styles. Mrs. Reed previously served as an organist at several churches and continues to maintain active affiliation with the American Guild of Organists.
Prior to her entrepreneurial career, Mrs. Reed found success as an administrator and editor at Stanford University for more than 25 years between 1980 and 2008. During this period, she frequently harnessed her expertise in library and information science to assist doctoral candidates in compiling research materials for their thesis projects. Mrs. Reed also provided copyediting and typesetting services for several academic books and journals.
To prepare for her career, Mrs. Reed pursued a formal education at National Taiwan University, from which she received a Bachelor of Arts in library and information science with a minor in psychology. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Science in library and information science at the New York State University at Geneseo. Completing a medical librarianship at Simmons College shortly thereafter, Ms. Reed also completed coursework in child studies at West Valley College. She holds a credential for teaching in the State of California.
In recognition of her exceptional editing skills, Mrs. Reed was selected for the Donald Knuth Scholarship Award on behalf of the American Mathematics Society in 1987. She attributes a great deal of her success to the support of her mother, as well as numerous colleagues at Stanford University. In the coming years, Mrs. Reed intends to continue instilling a deep appreciation of music in her students while furthering her efforts as organist at a local church.
